Bespoke Handmade
Houses
Tudor Inn
The Tudor Inn shown
is handmade from 9mm plywood with hardwood for the windows and doors.
The external walls are finished with a realistic brick herringbone
finish which gives the looks and texture of real brick. Brick was very
expensive in Tudor times so was often used as a way for people to show
off “their” wealth. The area around the outside of the Inn is
cobbled and is done with miniature cobbles cut from real stone to give
an authentic effect! The windows can be made with “glass” or
as ventilators and varying sizes and styles such as oriole depending on
personal preferences.
The front panels
(doors) on the model pictured are lift off or slide and lift which gives
a secure fit but with no hinges on view to detract from the look
of the house when displayed. This feature enables the doors to be left
off to display the interior or to allow unhindered access to work on the
interior design. Hinges can also be fitted for those who prefer.
The house shown has
three individual rooms and two adjoined via an archway leaving the
option for a bar and seating area on the ground floor. Features wooden
beams on the ceilings or exposed roof support timber framework in the
roof spaces. Two sets of open tread stairs, typical of the period, one
internal door and one archway provide access to all the rooms from the
front door. The interior walls can be painted and supporting beams can
be added, as well as traditional fireplaces, to suit personal
preferences.
