Fisherman's Cottage

.

horizontal rule

The Fisherman’s Cottage shown is handmade from 9mm plywood . The external walls are finished with realistic brick and stone finishes, which gives the looks and texture of real brick and stone. This style of construction is typical of buildings in various parts of the country, the  type of stone used depended on what was available in that particular area. The area around the outside of the cottage is paved with miniature paving stones cut from real stone to give an authentic effect!  The slipway has stone edges and a planked area to pull the boats onto, the front of the model is a quay side and features wood rubbing planks and mooring posts. The bay window features a realistic felt roof.

The front, one end and the rear panel (doors) on the model pictured are pull and lift off which gives a secure fit but with no hinges on view to detract from the look of the house when displayed. This feature enables the doors to be left off to display the interior or to allow unhindered access to work on the interior design. Hinges can also be fitted for those who prefer.

The cottage shown has three individual rooms and a fish shop adjoined via an internal door or external door for customer access. Features include; scale red pamments (traditional floor tiles made from coloured clays) in the fish shop and on the ground floor of the cottage with simulated lime mortar grouting. Exposed support timber framework in the roof spaces and beams supporting the front of the building over the slipway. An open tread stairs/ladder gives access to the upper floor.

Various changes can be made to suit personal tastes or requirements such as traditional fireplaces or different roof frameworks or even building layouts.

Houses can be supplied at various stages of build depending on how much or how little you wish to do yourself, from built and completely unfinished (although we are normally requested to complete the exterior) to completely finished inside and out and only requiring furnishings.
